Introduction
Eplep.ai ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Undercurrent mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
Information We Collect
Data You Provide
- Mood and energy ratings — Daily self-reported mood (1–10) and energy (1–10) scores
- Friction logs ("Snags") — Category and optional short notes about daily friction points
- Decision journal entries — Decisions, alternatives considered, confidence levels, and outcome reviews
- Life Check ratings — Periodic self-assessments across 10 life areas
- Optional tags and notes — Short text annotations you add to entries
Data Collected from Device Services (with your permission)
- HealthKit data — Sleep duration, sleep quality, heart rate variability (HRV), step count, active energy, workout minutes. This data is read-only and never transmitted externally.
- Calendar data (EventKit) — Number of calendar events, meeting duration. We read event metadata only, not event content or attendee details.
- Weather data (WeatherKit) — Temperature, weather conditions, atmospheric pressure for your current location.
- Screen Time data — Aggregate device usage patterns. We do not access individual app usage.
Data Processed On-Device
AI-generated insights — Undercurrent uses Apple Foundation Models to analyze your data and generate insights. All AI processing happens entirely on your device. No data is sent to external servers for AI processing.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email, or contact information unless you contact us directly
- We do not track your location (weather data uses Apple's WeatherKit, not direct location tracking)
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or other personal files
- We do not share HealthKit data with third parties
- We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties
How We Use Your Data
- To provide mood, energy, and life pattern analysis
- To generate personalized AI insights about correlations in your data
- To track your progress through the gamification system
- To generate Life Check reviews and periodic reports
- To schedule and manage decision review reminders
- To fix bugs and improve performance
Data Storage
iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your app data is stored in your personal iCloud account. This data is encrypted by Apple, only accessible by you, synced across your devices, and subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
Local Storage
If you do not use iCloud sync, all data is stored locally on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
HealthKit Data
HealthKit data is read from Apple Health and processed locally. It is never stored on external servers, transmitted to third parties, or used for advertising.
Third-Party Services
We use the following Apple services: App Store, iCloud/CloudKit, StoreKit, HealthKit, WeatherKit, and Apple Foundation Models. These services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
We do not use any non-Apple third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Data Retention
- Local data: Retained until you delete the app or clear app data
- iCloud data: Retained until you delete it or remove the app from iCloud
- HealthKit data: Read on-demand and cached locally; not permanently stored separately from Apple Health
Your Rights (GDPR)

Data Deletion
You can delete your data at any time:
- In-app: Go to Profile → Delete All Data
- iCloud: Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Undercurrent → Delete Data
- Uninstall: Deleting the app removes all local data
Children's Privacy
Undercurrent is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the effective date above.
