Introduction

Eplep.ai ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Bygdami mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

Information We Collect

Data You Provide

• Account information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple User ID and optionally your name and email (if you choose to share it)
• Content submissions: News articles, events, or other content you submit for publication
• Village preferences: Which villages/places you choose to follow

Automatically Collected Data

• Device type and operating system version
• App usage statistics (anonymized)
• Crash reports and performance data

Location Data

• We collect your location only when you actively use the hiking map feature
• Location is used to show your position relative to hiking trail starting points
• We do not track or store your location history

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not access your contacts, photos, or other personal files
• We do not sell or share your data with advertisers
• We do not create profiles for targeted advertising

How We Use Your Data

• To provide and improve the app functionality
• To show you relevant local content for your chosen villages
• To send push notifications about news and events (if enabled)
• To process content submissions for publication
• To fix bugs and improve performance

Data Storage

iCloud Sync

Your app data is stored in your personal iCloud account via CloudKit. This data is:

• Encrypted by Apple
• Only accessible by you and our app
• Synced across your devices
• Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy

We have access to anonymized, aggregated data for app improvement, but not to your personal iCloud data.

Local Storage

Hiking trail information and maps are cached locally for offline use. This data is deleted when you uninstall the app.

• App Store: For app distribution
• iCloud/CloudKit: For data storage and synchronization
• Sign in with Apple: For authentication
• Apple Maps/MapKit: For hiking trail maps

• Local data: Retained until you delete the app or clear app data
• iCloud data: Retained until you delete it or remove the app from iCloud

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your data
• Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data

Data Deletion

You can delete your data at any time:

• In-app: Go to Profile → Delete Account
• iCloud: Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Bygdami → Delete Data
• Uninstall: Deleting the app removes all local data

Deleting your account will:

• Remove your user profile
• Remove your village preferences
• Remove any unpublished content submissions
• Note: Published content may remain but will be disassociated from your account

Children's Privacy

Bygdami is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the "Effective Date" above.
